FirstLook | Marinda & John |Celeste Photo Art | wedding photography|photography in the wine Country and beyond

John and Marinda wanted to have a “first look”. What is a “first look”? It’s when the wedding couple decide to see each other for the first time before the wedding, rather than coming down the aisle. They wanted to be at their cocktail hour and have fun with their friends.

One way of still having that important moment is to make it a special time. I met Marinda in her dressing room at the Lodge at Sonoma and then we escorted her to John, the groom who was waiting for her with his back turned. She walked up behind him and gave him a big hug. The rest is in the pictures as we kidnapped them and took them on a crazy fun time around the famous Sonoma Square. They even ran into the street (semi-safely, is that a word?) which was fun as everyone honked and waved at them.

We arrived back at the wedding site 25 minutes later and Marinda and John walked down the aisle hand in hand.

Most romantic couple. There isn’t a contest, however, if there was, Dana and Rod would win it! So in love, all I had to do was to put them together and the magic happened.

Dana & Rod got married on her parent’s property where her parents got married 40 years ago. The property is beautiful. From Kenwood, in the middle of wine country, we drove south, down a long dirt road, up a hill and suddenly the vistas opened up and we could see for miles and miles, across hills and vineyards.

What a fun wedding! Rod’s friends from Canada and Dana’s friends together made it a really fun day. Rod & Dana and I had met a couple of weeks before to walk the property and talk about the day. That really makes a difference. Not only are were we ready to go on the wedding day, but we got to spend some relaxed fun time together. If you are planning to get married soon, I highly recommend spending time with your photographer even if it’s just for coffee. It makes the day seem much more special, relaxed and fun!

Sunset & Wine in Paradise | Celeste Photo Art | Wine Country Photography | Paradise Ridge

Every time I go to Paradise Ridge Winery, in the heart of the Wine Country, Sonoma County, I really feel like I’m in Paradise. Sweeping views of the valley, vineyards, soaring hawks and sunset over the coastal hills.

What you might not know is that every Wednesday night, from May-October, there is a Wine & Music event. You can bring your own picnic or purchase food from different vendors or food trucks (they change each week), listen to live music and enjoy the view.

I happened by the other evening with friends and was thrilled that my friends, Myles and Myles were playing . Falcon and his nine year old son, Caiden are amazing with their vocals and playing and it gave me a chance to get some pictures of them for their website. I’ve been photographing their family since Bonnie was expecting Caiden, so it’s really amazing to see him on stage playing guitar and singing with his Dad.

Then I turned around and saw Cheryl Collins with Masterpiece Cakes, a friend from our wedding work together. Turned around and got to hug Martha, the wedding coordinator at Paradise Ridge.

The funny thing was, I was on crutches (I broke my leg playing derby) and it was really hard to photograph. I tried leaning on one crutch and tried not to wobble. Then I tried leaning on a table. It was funny and not totally effective, however I did it! I’m off of crutches and fine now, just wanted to share one of my favorite things to do here in the Wine Country.
